What if a teacher is giving unequal attention to other students in class?

There is this teacher at my school, he's the "cool teacher" of the school. All the popular kids are always hanging out with him, especially popular girls... I really enjoy him as a teacher, but it seems like I get hardly any attention from him (as a teacher). Is this fair at all? I'm sure I'm not the only student that feels this way. People out there, what are your feelings/views on this situation?

  1. If anything let the administration know about it if it is something that really hinders you. Try to get people that have the same situation happen to them to come with you as well. It coudl be a possible problem because he could give people he likes better grades if he favors them.
  2. It is not fair but the truth is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If the 'popular girls' are the ones that are asking a lot of questions in class and being loud, they are going to get more of his attention during class. I would not suggest you talk out and scream for attention during class but maybe you can ask him if he will tutor you after class. I would not blame him on this one because it is very difficult for teachers to give equal attention to every child in the classroom. Its always the loud ones that get their questions answered. Thats just life.
  3. hm....well he may be the "cool" teacher but all of the "cool" teachers are jerks anyways. there is nothing you can do to change that.
  4. Impress him. Learn the material better than anyone else; you will win in the end. A strong mind, in a teacher's eyes, should be more appreciable than a friendly student who is failing.
  5. A teacher who is truly concerned with his teaching would appreciate learning that some of his students are feeling ignored. You will have to determine whether this teacher is someone you feel you can approach with your concerns. You raise an important issue and it deserves the attention of teachers.
