How does sex between a teacher and student affect the teacher-student dynamic/relationship? I am not talking about the legality or the moral/ethical side of it, or whether you think it's gross. I am talking about the relationship/dynamic between a student and teacher, or master and pupil, or within an apprenticeship or whatever you want to call it. I am also talking about male teacher to female student, male teacher to male student, female teacher to female student, or female teacher to male student. Does introducing sex into the dynamic alter the dynamic in any way?
What if a teacher is giving unequal attention to other students in class? There is this teacher at my school, he's the "cool teacher" of the school. All the popular kids are always hanging out with him, especially popular girls... I really enjoy him as a teacher, but it seems like I get hardly any attention from him (as a teacher). Is this fair at all? I'm sure I'm not the only student that feels this way. People out there, what are your feelings/views on this situation?
What are the benefits of being a teacher? I would like to get a certificate on teacher assistant. I would like to know what are some of the benefits a teacher assistant has. For those of you who are teachers/teacher assistants, how does it feel being one? Where can i learn more about being a teacher/teacher assistant in the state of Illinois. Thank you.
What can you do when a teacher accuses a student of handing in a paper that is not the student's? My nephew handed in a paper. The teacher emailed my sister and said that he believes that the paper was not written by her son. My sister is furious with the teacher. Luckily, my sister found the rough draft. My sister even kept the second and third drafts with the teacher comments on it. She had a meeting with the teacher and the teacher still insists that he believes that my nephew didn't write it. What can my sister do now?
What is the average salary for a teacher? I am interested in becoming a teacher in the future, and am curious as to how much they actually earn. Do private school teachers earn more than public school teachers? Do some teachers earn more because they are in a richer district? Please state your sources. It would be really great if you are an acutual teacher.
What advice do any veteran teachers have for the new teacher? I want to be more specific here and ask what would you say to a new young teacher getting into the profession as far as the planning of retirement? What they should do now (when they begin teaching) for the future? Any special programs given to teachers as far as home buying, loans, and anything of the sort? Should the new teacher do anything as far as education to further their wage, etc.?
Can a teacher or principal forcefully make you empty your pockets at school? At my high school we are not allowed to have cell phones on us during the school day. The phones must be in our locker and turned off. During study hall someones phone went off. The teacher then asked who's phone it was, and no one admitted to their phone going off. So the teacher said that she was going to make everyone empty their pockets. I had my phone in my pocket, and was wondering what would happen if I refused to empty my pockets.
How much can a teacher get paid with a masters degree ? I have recently applied to colleges for nursing, but i have thought about it and i don't think nursing is for me so i switched to early childhood education and teachers make a lot less money than nurses. People have told me a masters degree will get me a higher salary. I am planning on teaching any grade from pre-k to 3rd. So i was wondering if anybody knew the average salry of a teacher with a bachlors degree vs. a teacher with a masters degree.
How do you find a good vocal/singing teacher? I want singing lessons. I was watching "American Idol" and one of the bad contestants said they were trained for 10 years in singing. The last thing I want is to spend a boat load on lessons just to suck! So, how can U tell if a teacher is a good teacher? How can you check to see if they're certified? (I know it's should be hanging up some place, but what if it's not?) Are there somethings that I should look out for when searching for a teacher? (i.e: scams, habits of a bad teacher...). What type of vocal training do U recommend classical, pop, rock, r&b, or anthing else? Are there any teachers in PA, NJ, or DE you'd recommend? Any other helpful hints or tips you'd like to add or more than welcome! Tuyo...your link is cut off by "..." And...I don't like singing in public cause I dont' like my voice. I'm hoping to get rid of this by getting private singing lessons. That, among a few other things, is the reason why I am getting lessons.
What do you do if the teacher who you wanted to write your college recommendation? What do you do if the teacher who you wanted to write your college recommendation is leaving? My teacher is moving to a different state, but she's the only one I absolutely KNEW I wanted to write a college recommendation for me. I have to start applying to colleges next year, but she won't be here, and it's important that *she* be the teacher to write it because she's the English teacher, and I'm planning on majoring in English.
How do I send teacher recommendations for college applications? I am applying with the Common Application to most of the colleges I am applying to, and I am a bit confused about the forms they have given me for teacher reccomendations. Do the teachers send the recomendations themselves? Do I need to give them separate forms for each school that requires a reccomendation and ask them to mail each to the right school? Do I get to see what they write before they send it? If I am applying online to most of my schools, how does the teacher reccomendation find its way to my online application? Will the school match it up? Any answers and advice on this step of the application process would really help. Thanks.

What did you do for your teacher for teacher appreciation week? Today, me and another student in my class collaborated and got our teacher two cards, signed by everyone in our class, a chocolate bunny, sweetarts, flowers, and an inside joke. We had to sneak out of class to get the flowers, so it was fun... Anyways, what did you all do for your teachers? Whoever I feel did the nicest thing for their teacher will get best answer.
How many recommendations for college should one high school teacher write? I don't know how clear I am going to make this, but I'm just wondering how many recommendations a teacher should write. I'm planning on applying to quite a few colleges, so should I ask one teacher to write the same recommendation for each college? Or should I ask a different teacher for each college I apply to? I can't exactly ask a teacher to write one and make copies of it, since most colleges give you a recommendation form with the application that the teacher should fill out. Thanks for your answers!
How is the teacher certification process different in the USA than in Canada? Here in Canada you need to go through the following steps to become a teacher: 1. Four-year undergraduate degree in your specialization (or general studies for elementary teachers) 2. Next, a two-year undergraduate degree in Education (focusing on either elementary or a secondary specialization) If you want to do a Master's degree, it's another two years of full-time studies (meaning someone with a Master's degree in Education has spent eight years in post-secondary studies). How is this process different in the USA?
Can passive acceptance of a teacher's wisdom lead to distasterous consequences? Passive acceptance of the teacher's wisdom is easy to most boys and girls. It involves no effort of independent thought, and seems rational because the teacher knows more than his pupils; it is moreover the way to win the favour of the teacher unless he is a very exceptional man. Yet the habit of passive acceptance is a disastrous one in later life. It causes man to seek and to accept a leader, and to accept as a leader whoever is established in that position. -Bertrand Russell What exactly does this mean, im not sure what to make of this quote and what it is trying to say. Thanks. What would be some examples in history? Would Nixon and the Watergate incident count?
How can I be an effective CTT teacher with regards to behavior issues? I am a collaborative team teacher who works with other teachers in a middle school. Last year the general education teachers took command of the class with their own disciplinary systems. All of the teachers had different systems, and there was no consistency between the classes. Thus I had to adjust myself to their differences and it was difficult to develop my own coherent plan. How do I make this year different?? Please I would appreciate help from those who have successfully worked in such 'inclusion' classrooms!

My school offers an education certification program, but I have to pick a major. They have human development, but I am really not interested in it. If I choose to major in something like biology or french, will that make me a less qualified candidate to get a job as a teacher. I just DO not enjoy human development as much as others in the course do. But I still want to become an elementary school teacher.

How do you persuade a teacher into helping you get into their class? So I want to get into drama class, and I talked to a counselor about it. Basically it's too late, and I won't get the credit for it. But the thing is, my friend says that I really haven't missed anything, and joining should be no problem, especially since I don't care about not getting the credit. Is it possible to get the teacher for the drama class to help persuade the counselor?
How do I convince a teacher to allow me to use a PDA in school? When the teacher is away, or busy in doing something, students(of age group 7 to 15) are obvious to make a noise. some are so loud that they don't obey the teacher to be clam. 2. What is the best way to deal with a teacher who is bias in her grading habits? I'm in high school. My english teacher graded my english writing portfolio in a bias manner. I have looked at other people's work and it is like two different people grading the assignment. She wrote several off base, irrevelent, and stupid comments on my paper, and she has not written any comments like that on other people's paper. My mom said I should redo the project and turn it in again. I think that is ridiculous, why should I redo something that the teacher messed up? I printed out new (unaltered) copies of the work and asked the teacher to regrade it or look at it again. She gave me a look like "what do you want me to do with this?" What is the best way to handle this? Remember, high school english teacher. I know the work I did is better than the grade she gave me too. She acts like she does not understand some of the things I said in my writing. But the things are blatantly obvious, even my 5th grade sister understands it. Slinda... you didn't tell me a thing, all you did was tick me off And I don't want to suck it up, it dropped my grade 5 points

What is the starting salary of an Arkansas teacher with a Master's degree? I have a Bachelor of science in Health Administration and a Masters in Business Administration. What is a day in the life of an Elementary School Teacher like? A few months ago I made a career change and decided to become a teacher. I currently teach an after school program. The thing is, this position isn't really letting me know what it's like to be an elementary school teacher in the school board. I have many questions: 1. Besides teaching your specific grade, are you also required to do extracurricular activities with children after school? Such as drama club, etc.? 2. Are you required to do fundraising for your school? 3. Are you required to put on events like school plays, etc.? 4. Must part of your day be in the school library or cafeteria for a school period? 5. Are there enough free periods to grade papers and lesson plan while students are at other class periods like gym, art, computers, etc.? What I really want to know is, besides your actual classes, what else happens or is expected of you as a teacher throughout the day or year? Answers from teachers in the school board and who teach elementary will be most helpful.

Can a teacher be fired for not participating in certain projects due to her religion? I need court cases stating that a teacher can or can not be fired for their religious beliefs. I'd like some feedback from teachers and other adults as well on what is a good way to ask for extra credit. My math teacher is a little intimidating and she means what she says and says what she means, but none the less she is a great teacher as far as teachers go.

What about a high school teacher who advocates pointing a gun on cats? I know this is bizarre, but my child brought home health notes from a teacher which (in discussing gun safety) said never to point a gun at a person, but pointing guns at cats was ok. Apparently the teacher and her class found this brutal joke amusing...I was shocked to see it! I know that not everyone likes cats...but what kind of teacher would write something like this in her health notes? Should I say something to her or let it drop?
How would I file a complaint against a teacher working for a State Preschool Program? The teacher works for Head Start a state run program in Indianapolis, IN (Marion County). I looked on the licensing board, but teachers are not listed. I have filed a complaint with the agency, but they are really not interested. This teacher is yanking, grabbing and yelling at preschool children ages 3-5. I personally witnessed her yelling and yanking my 3 year old son and I want to notify the proper authorities.
What qualifications do you need to be a primary teacher or secondary maths teacher? I really want to be a teacher but I am undecided between the two. I really want to go to cambridge university so I am wondering whether there is a course there which would suit my ideal job. I have been doing work experience this week at a primary school and I would definitely love to do it full time when I am older. I have looked on the Cambridge website but I can't see any teaching courses so any help is much appreciated. Thank you :)

What is a unique gift to give a third grade teacher for an end of the school year present? I have been a parent volunteer since my oldest started kindergarten in 1984 and have helped with numerous end of the school year parties. My youngest is in 3rd grade and I think my creativity has taken a leave of absence (or just too tired). I am just not coming up with any ideas for a teacher present this year. What are some good teacher gifts that you can think of? Some of the things I have done in the past are gift certificates to restaurants, teacher stores, sporting events, book stores; fabric painted sweatshirts, tote bags, aprons with kids' names and handprints; flowers, plants, and trees; one year I did a summer survival kit with sunscreen, a book, a sun hat, etc, in a styrafoam cooler. All of these are thoughtful gifts and appreciated by teachers. Does anyone have other suggestions for truly unique gift ideas? Thanks!
What does it take for a teacher to become principal? Or from teacher to guidance counselor? I'm only 16, but I'm quite interested in pursuing a career as a teacher. I'm not sure I want to be one for the rest of my life, though? I want to move, but still in an educational career. What does it take for them to move up, at least to something like a Chairholder.

How do a teacher/nurse married couple go about finding work overseas? We are looking into working overseas (not too important where at this point) but don't know where to look. There are lots of websites with overseas teaching jobs but they are only interested in the teacher and not in bringing over the nurse, as well. This understandable based on the work visas and all the other paper work. Does anyone out there have experience as a couple with different jobs finding work overseas? Anyone with any ideas or resources?

I do not have a job for the winter and I'm commuting to a University. Does anyone know the job requirements or know of a website that can give me the requirements on becoming a teacher's aide (particularly for a special ed. classroom)? Not only will it give me a job, but it's something that I'm interested in and something that will benefit me for the future.

I am interested, though, in becoming a high school math or physics teacher. I was wondering if you guys can aid me in figuring out what I should do to become a teacher. Should I continue with civil engineering and get a teaching credential in my graduate studies? Or, should I try and minor in education? Any websites or references will be great. Thank you!

What happens after a teacher finishes undergrad? What does a teacher do when he/she finishes undergrad and they want to teach elementry or middle school. By this question, i mean do they start as a student teacher? For how long and how is the pay. Addition: do most teachers nowadays have Masters? I was under the impression a large majority of teachers held a Bachelors degree as their highest degree. Thanks
What to do when a teacher praises one student constantly and not the others? My child's teacher keeps praising one student in the class and preaching all his achievements to the class even though there are many students who are just as praiseworthy. This kid already thinks he rules the school (his parents are leaders in the community so a lot of people "kiss up" to this family and the kid too) so he certainly does not need all this extra praise. This is having a negative impact on my child's confidence in the class and social interactions as well. What should I do???

Teacher....? I had a teacher my freshman year. She was so amazing. I don't think of her as a teacher but as a friend/mentor. I trust her more than my mother. She actually cares about my feelings and opinions, and she's always trying to make me a better person. She said her goal for me is to make me a presentable person. She's like a best friend to me...... is that strange?
What would be a good name for a teacher talent show? We of the Speech and Debate team at my school had an idea for a fund-raiser: we're having a talent show with teachers performing. We know a lot of people who would come see it, and we already have several acts-to-be. We just need a good name. "Teacher Talent Show" is too plain.
How can a teacher not give a slow learning student the time of day? Teachers didn't want to teach me just because I couldn't learn as fast as others. Well, I don't chose to have a disability. A kid needs an education, but no one told these unethical people to become teachers. If they had a hanidicapped kid they'd want a patient teacher for him/her, so what's the deal? What if these heartless people were to one day get in a car accident and all of a sudden get a disability? I'd love to see how they'd handle it.
How difficult is it to become a elementary teacher ? I don't know anything about it. Do I have to know all the subjects well to teach elementary school subjects ? Is it appropriate to contact teacher in this situation? I have agonized for awhile about whether to have my daughter repeat kindergarten or not. I decided to send her to first grade, but now I am not so sure that she is ready to go. Anyway, she has already been assigned a first grade teacher (school has not started yet). I was wondering if I should contact the teacher and discuss this with her (everyone tells me that she is a really good teacher) before school starts. She has already mailed us her contact info and everything, and I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to do this, since school is not in session yet.

What attributes make a good or a bad music teacher? I have noticed that several posters in this section really don't like music teachers very well, or at least they have lost faith in them. I'm interested in finding out why. Do you have any stories to tell? What do you think would make a good teacher? A bad? Please explain.
